Mario Küster joined us in September 2014 and since then, together with his teams, has ensured successful hotel stays in the carathotels and authentic taste experiences in the Hazienda restaurant. As a hotelier and restaurateur with a great love of detail as well as experience, the satisfaction of his guests and staff is his top priority.

My first day as hotel manager 15 years ago
What do you appreciate most about your daily work?
The fact that something completely unexpected can happen at any time – everyday hotel life is full of surprises!
What are the biggest challenges for you professionally in the coming years?
To further advance our hotels, especially in terms of service performance, and thus also to further improve the satisfaction of our guests.
In addition, with more hotels joining the group, there are many challenges ahead.
What profession would you have chosen if you hadn’t ended up in the hotel industry?
There has been no other choice.
How does one actually become a hotel manager?
You should be in the right place at the right time!
What do you love most about Basel and what is your current insider tip for the city?
In summer, I especially like the many little buvettes on the banks of the Rhine, where you can comfortably order a few drinks and snacks, and then of course the Rhine swimming on nice summer days.
