Wenke Jungk
Director, Hotel Traube Rüdesheim
Wenke Jungk, director at the Hotel Traube in beautiful Rüdesheim on the Rhine, is a carathotels veteran. She was already the good soul of our Wiesbaden hotel as assistant manager and has now been at the Hotel Traube since the end of 2014, initially also as assistant manager, in mid-2015 she took over the management. As hotel director, Wenke pulls all the strings there and ensures the smooth running of the hotel.
Describe yourself in three words!
Disciplined, helpful, ambitious.
What has been the highlight in your career so far?
The new challenge of managing the house since 2015 and observing the development since then.
What do you appreciate most about your daily work?
Working alongside my colleagues. And the daily unexpected.
What are the biggest challenges for you professionally in the coming years?
To observe how the market develops in the tourism industry and to successfully position the hoteltraube Rüdesheim for further years. We will also work on continuing to successfully implement and expand the carathotels standards in our house.
What profession would you have chosen if you hadn’t ended up in the hotel industry?
For me, nothing else was ever an option.
How does one actually become a hotel manager?
Being in the right place at the right time and putting in a lot of effort to convince people that you are ready for the position with the corresponding responsibility.
What do you love about Rüdesheim and what is your current insider tip for the city?
The vineyards, the Rhine and the wine harvested here.
My secret tip for summer: sitting in the vineyards in the evening and watching the sea of lights around Rüdesheim. A boat trip across the Rhine is also a great idea for a summer day.
For winter, my Rüdesheim secret tip is to wander through the little wine bars and sample the delicious food and one or more glasses of Rheingau Riesling!
